Chihuly Glass Sculptures Last Friday my husband and I were off so we decided to spend the day at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. Phipps was established in 1893 in Pittsburgh, PA. It’s sandwiched between two well-known university campuses: Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh. It’s one of my favorite places to visit, especially in the winter when everything is so gray. I brought my Nikon camera and captured some pretty nice shots. I love this time of year. Everything is in bloom, the days are longer and warmer. I love to sit out on my deck. It overlooks woods and is in the back of my house. In the morning, upon awakening, I go downstairs, put on a pot of coffee, heat up a combo of almond and soymilk in preparation for my morning mocha. I love the ritual of preparing the drink, getting it just the right strenght, sweetness and temperature and pairing it with a small morsel of something sweet. While the coffee is brewing and the milk combo is … Continue reading Flowers and Mocha The Beauty of Impermanence

I love being outside, especially first thing in the morning. We recently moved and have acres of woods at the the back of our house. I look forward to having my morning coffee on the back deck. It is very serene. I sit and listen to the symphony of birds as they perform their morning song. This morning I was greeted by a beautiful moth on my deck floor. Unfortunately the moth was dead, but the colors were captivating. I tried to get a close up picture of the moth so you could appreciate how beautiful it is. Then I … Continue reading Grateful for the Simple Summer Pleasures
