Sometimes when it’s broke, you have to fix it

I’m sure most of you have come across this quote before, but it never hurts to remind ourselves that if something isn’t working, we might have to try a different approach.

If you are unhappy with where you are in life, you might have to take a step back and look at what it is you are doing. You might not like what you see, but if you want real change, you have to be willing to accept that you might be the cause of your problems. You know the saying “if it’s broke, don’t fix it”… well the opposite is also true… sometimes if it’s broke, you have to fix it.

But how can you recognize it’s broke?

Get into the daily practice of awareness.

The meaning of awareness in the Cambridge dictionary is – knowledge that something exists, or understanding of a situation or subject at present time based on information or experience.

But I’m talking more about awareness of your thoughts…monitor your thoughts regularly so you can recognize when the toxic ones sneak up on you. You’d be surprised how often your thoughts are negative about yourself or others. They are the ones that keep you from growing. They are the ones that allow you to play the victim and blamer instead of accepting responsibility for your actions and lifestyle.

So which one are you?

Are you a blamer or victim or are you creator and fixer of your own life? That is, one who accepts responsibility for one’s life and takes action?
