Build in active time with family time and stay fit

Warm weather is the perfect time of year to build in more active and fun, family time.

Take advantage of the nice weather and longer daylight to get outside and get moving with your family. Find an activity that everyone enjoys doing and build that into your weekly routine.

Our favorite family activity is cycling. We went on a nice 20 mile bike ride yesterday in the city. We made a day out of it. The weather was perfect: sunny, warm, a slight breeze. There were occasional head winds but that just made the ride a little more challenging.

Don’t just make it about exercise. Make it fun! At around the half-way mark we stopped for lunch and those of us over 21 enjoyed a cold beer, and more water to hydrate. We enjoyed our meal on the outdoor patio. This is the perfect time to chit chat, because it’s hard to carry on a conversation when you are cycling, take a break and refuel before we complete our ride.

Notice our helmets in the picture above. Safety is a priority so we always make sure we have our helmets with us. Our kids put up fights about it, but that is a non-negotiable option.
