Consignment Fashionista

In keeping with my pledge to cut down on waste, I have been shopping consignment and thrift shops for the last few months.

I am happy to report that I found a fabulous consignment shop, Kindred Spirits about 20 minutes from my home. I’ve also visited some thrift shops and have found some good items.

Although I’m not a big lover of thrift shops, nor have I ever been,  I find them to be a little dirty and smelly and I’m a bit of a germaphobe, however, I found the best consignment shop in my area and I can’t seem to stay away from it.

This consignment shop is like a high-end boutique.
They carry designer handbags and clothing along with good quality women’s sportswear. And the prices are fairly reasonable.

They also carry very nice home interior products such as lamps and furniture, bookcases, art prints, framed art,  and let’s not forget about the beautiful jewelry that they carry.

Featured in the images in this blog are items that I recently purchased from the consignment shop I love.

From left to right hanging, the orange jacket is by J.Crew(it’s 100% silk), the Jean jacket is by Tommy Hilfiger(side-note I’ve been looking for a Jean jacket for my wardrobe but have not been able to find one for under $50-$75) this Jean jacket cost me $23

Also in the featured photo, I’m wearing a striped gold and white shell by White House Black-market and the jacket by Chicos. Total purchase for all four items is $50.

We have a beach vacation scheduled at Hilton Head later this month and I plan on taking this fabulous white and gold outfit. It’s the perfect resort wear!

If you are an Haute Couture junkie, this place will help you satiate your hunger for all things fabulous and fashion forward. Some of the Haute Couture items found in the store are Diane Von Furstenburg, Louis Vuitton,  Bottega Veneta,  Kate Spade, Coach,  Brighton jewelry, Lilly Pulitzer, LaCoste and many more. Their endless supply will never cease to amaze you nor will it disappoint you.

I think I’ve died and gone to heaven. I’m so excited that I found these wonderful products for a fraction of the cost and I’m not adding additional waste to our beautiful Mother Earth.

I feel so beautiful and chic  in the outfit that I’m wearing in the featured pictures. I feel that I’ve made a good choices and karma is on my side because I am thinking about my purchases and how they affect the world, the environment and the universe in general; also let’s not forget that it is gentle on the pocketbook.

I live in the Pittsburgh area so obviously those who are reading this who live outside of the Pittsburgh region may not benefit from shopping at this consignment store, but if you take the time to do your homework and search for consignment and thrift shops in your area, I’m sure you will find something that meets your needs and desires and will not disappoint you or your pocketbook.

Styles take a while to go out of fashion so it’s OK to shop in consignment and thrift shops while saving and protecting the environment. Mother Earth will thank you and so will your Bank account.  Go ahead and give it a try, you might actually like it!
