I’m working on shedding the 5-7 lbs I put on over the winter. I find that doing a few days of mostly liquids in the form of healthy smoothies and soups give me both an energy boost and a weight loss boost.
I’ve done this in the past and I’m amazed at how much energy I have when I do a couple of days of liquids.
If you want to do a smoothie fast, you’ll need to stock up on some veggies and fruits and you’ll need a mechanism in which to make your smoothies. I use my NutriBullet. I love it because it’s relatively inexpensive, it comes with some healthy smoothie recipes and your very own cups and lids to take on the go. It’s also very easy to clean.
For the smoothie that is featured in this article you will need the following ingredients:
1-2 handfuls of fresh baby spinach
1/2 c of pineapple
1 sm banana
1/2 small avocado
2 cups water
1 c ice
Place the first 4 ingredients in the NutriBullet or Blender, cover with water(about 2 cups)and blend until completely smooth
Add ice, blend again until ice is completely blended
Pour in your favorite cup and enjoy. Servings – ~2 – 8ounce cups, or one serving if you are really hungry and you’re doing liquids the whole day.
I am going to stick to my smoothie fast for the next few days. When I find myself craving solid foods, I go for a spoonful of all-natural peanut butter or almond butter. You can also eat yogurts and soups. If I buy the soups boxed, I buy the low-sodium and since I’m about 90% vegan, obviously my soup choices are going to be something like carrot soup or tomato soup.
I have my first voice recital since 25+ years ago and I want my body and my voice to be in tip-top shape for the performance. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Stay healthy, fit and happy.
